Georges Haroutiun Scholarship Essay

Temple Undergraduate Scholarships

Temple University has a number of scholarships and grants available for both incoming and continuing students.  Some are administered directly from Student Financial Services, some by the Office of Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising, and some require a separate application to be considered. The Office of Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising maintains a list of these scholarships.

Study Abroad Scholarships

Temple’s Education Abroad Office has a list of scholarships just for students who want to study abroad.  For more details about these specific scholarships just for study abroad, see their website.

Tyler School of Art and Division of Architecture and Environmental Design Scholarships

Donors to Tyler and the Division of Architecture and Environmental Design have established a number of scholarships and graduation awards.  Many of these awards are based on merit and financial need; some are specific to degree programs.  Because the lists and amounts change, Tyler does not publish a complete list.  Instead, students are notified via the Week Here At Tyler newsletter about the application process and deadlines for upcoming scholarships.  It is critical that students read their Temple email for notifications.

For more information on applying for Tyler scholarships, please click here.

Students entering Tyler may also be eligible for portfolio based scholarships or scholarships based on academic achievement and/or financial need.  Academic scholarships for incoming students are determined by the Temple Office of Undergraduate Admissions which publishes its scholarship criteria: http://admissions.temple.edu/cost-and-aid

Incoming students are eligible to apply for the Tyler portfolio scholarships: https://tyler.temple.edu/scholarship-application

All students must meet the deadlines for scholarship eligibility.

General Scholarship Opportunities

The following scholarships are sponsored by organizations outside of Tyler/Temple.  Students will need to research their own eligibility, and pay careful attention to application deadlines, which are typically anywhere between November to March for the next academic year.  Some scholarships will require a letter(s) of recommendation.  It is customary and polite to ask people you would like to write letters for you before you assume that they will, and in any case, allow no less than 2 weeks, but ideally at least 4 weeks before the deadline to ask for your letter, and provide your writers all they need (addressed, stamped envelopes, if traditional letters).
